RAINBOW TROUT(Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Rainbow Trout are cold water fish. They need water temperatures that stay below 70 degrees year round and oxygen levels twice that of other fish. Therefore, the cold water at the bottom of most ponds is usually not suitable because of the low oxygen. They should be stocked in the fall and harvested in the spring. Rainbow trout eat insects, small fish and commercial fish food. Rainbow Trout up to 12″ are sold based upon length. 12-18″ trout are sold at $6.99 per pound. Trophy sized trout greater than 18″ are sold at $12.99 per pound.

100 per acre stocking rate is recommended and up to 500 per acre with additional feeding.
